Interpreting visions. 2008/04/16 01:33

Do you use the same symbols to interpret visions that you use to interpret dreams, or do you feel that a separate way of interpreting them would be applicable.
I pretty much use the same method of interpreting both, but have always wondered about the above.
In interpreting dreams for others, there are so many "personal" symbols, that sometimes the dream dictionaries don't apply, and I have to get input from the dreamer to more or less help them towards the most appropriate interpretation for them. Visions are highly personal, so I have to know more background to be able to see how the PTB (powers that be) are speaking to the individual. (Also, most people don't know what visions are, but when I teach the people, they say, "Oh yeah, that has happened to me, too." I believe scrying is like visions, but there are different levels of visions.

Well, scrying allows you to "see", as do various other divination techniques. Are these prophetic visions? Do you have them while awake or asleep? Psychic dreams, telepathy, second sight, prophetic visions, or mediumship. ... is the term used to define what is a clairvoyant ... There are many things that fall under the ESP category. Generally when you "read" a person, there aren't really symbols like there are in dreams. Rael, what kinds of things are your 'visions' about? Post edited by: ShaamAnsu, at: 2008/04/16 09:32

My visions can be about just about anything. When I was with "The Move," I was one of their seers, so I had to write down any dreams or visions I had and give then to the elders. Also, if the elders asked me to seek a vision for some one (not known to me to keep the vision pure), I just got into prayer and wrote down what I saw and gave it back to the elder/s that asked me to seek the vision. I have become quite adept at it. All I have to do now is look where I look.
Visions sometimes come as a lightning flash of events before your eyes. I get these a lot when I go to sleep and am in that state between consciousness and unconsciousness. I usually find out within 48 hours after that happens what it means. Visions work better in a group, and if I am in a group setting of a spiritual nature, I can expect to see something. I like it when I see visions of things that I don't know what it is, but someone in the group knows what I am describing. My 1st vision of Quetcoatal (sp?) was like that. I had no idea of that kind of stuff before seeing that vision. It is interesting to learn about these things after I see them in a vision. I also saw the White Buffalo Woman 1st in a vision. There happened to be a lady in the group that followed a Native American shamanic path, and she was able to interpret the vision. Those are faith builders...
I have had a series of dreams that involved other people, and I used to write them down and give them to that person. I was once told by a demonologist that I had quite an "anointing" after I gave her the dreams I had for her. The dreams came just before she came to town, and she read them and walked away with them and said they were for her. I did some ministering with her after that.
That should give you an idea of the things that I see. I got into dream interpretation a few years back. We were taught Biblical interpretation (numerology and symbolism), but interpretation was always reserved to the elders. When I interpret dreams for Christians, I use the symbols I was taught in The Move and also Scriptural numerology, which doesn't differ from pagan numerology that much (especially since the Bible has a lot of paganism in its background).
Symbols can be misleading, though, and one has to know what the symbol means to the person that had the dream. Usually in dreams, there are more than one symbol that speaks to the same pattern, and the pattern is what you are looking for to know what it means.

LOL, for sure..they can. I teach on-line (no charge) as well as in a school on another forum and am a mentor on yet another.
Some people really have a problem with symbolism in dreams. It is just human nature to take most things at face value..so they have to learn another mindset.
It does help to know something about the person and their circumstances when interpreting but not altogether necessary..just makes it easier...lol.
"Visions sometimes come as a lightning flash of events before your eyes. I get these a lot when I go to sleep and am in that state between consciousness and unconsciousness."
Yeh, they are like short blurbs. I get them anytime awake more than asleep anymore. I've done this my whole life since a child. When I was little, I foresaw quite a few events that ended with great loss of life..one of those was a passenger airliner crash..the other was the loss of the first atomic submarine...and one was a ship sinking. I was only about 9 when I had those...I thought I had caused them to die, so I shut my gifts down as much as I could, then as a young teenager...they came back fullsteam...lol. When I was 14, I saw when my father would die...and he did that same week. ...and the stories go on...some bad...some not.
I "read" people too, remotely as well. Computers make a great energy link to work with as well..lol. In my shamanic path..I journey all over the world and to the realms as welll, and get messages.
Past lives are interesting to "see". I have been lucky enough to have written verifications of some of those from the folks where research or geneologies could actually be done.
People ask me stuff all the time...sometimes..I just don't feel like doing stuff...but have a problem saying "No"...so do it anyway...lol.
How old were you when you realized you could do this?

I have seen them all my life. My grandmother and my mother saw visions as well. My 2 daughters both see visions as well. Interesting I am the only male in the family that has reported this, but I am gay... LOL! My Mom was hoping for a girl--I guess the universe compromised with her...

LOL...I love that answer.
I'm not gay...but probably should have been a boy...I was one big tomboy growing up. Most of the kids in neighborhood were boys, so I grew up learning how to defend myself. There were a few girls..but I despised playing with dolls and that stuff.
The dirtier I got outside, the better I liked it...lol. Still that way...lol.
There were gifts on both sides of my family. Mom's mother did automatic writing, Mom had many gifts too...healing was one and she could "see" into people as well. She always understood me...and knew I had special gifts.
On Dad's side, he was somewhat clairvoyant. My Aunt was a spiritualist medium, and diviner.
My sister has some gifts but fights them. My daughter is very gifted...but doesn't admit it.
So, it kind of runs in the family. There usually has been only one per generation who embraced their gifts. My paternal Aunt did and I have. As I follow a shamanic path, gifts are many and varied.
Don't really know about earler in the families. Most folks..unless it was a way of life..really didn't talk about that a whole lot.
